Leaving what you’ve spent years building is rarely simple. In this interview, Jeffrey Kyenkyenhene, Statutory Director at Donatus Verzekeringen, shares why he chose the unknown anyway, and what he’s carrying forward from it.
Jeffrey Kyenkyenhene on Choosing the Unknown, Again
What has been the biggest change in your life over the past year?
The biggest change has been starting a new chapter in my career. After seven and a half years in an international environment, I joined the Executive Board of Donatus Verzekeringen. Leaving a place where I had built so much with others was not an easy decision, but I believe you should never become too comfortable. Sometimes you have to choose the unknown and challenge yourself again.
What’s one goal or intention you’re carrying into the second half of the year?
I want to keep taking on challenges that matter and, at the same time, create opportunities for the people around me. For me, leadership is about more than delivering results. It is about trusting people, giving them responsibility and helping them become better at what they do. I want to make an impact, but also bring others with me.
What’s one thing the Roots Inspire community has given you that you didn’t expect?
I initially saw Roots Inspire as a great way to meet and connect with people. What surprised me was the genuine sense of community. You meet people with completely different stories and experiences, but there is a willingness to share, help and open doors for each other. That is something I really value.
